Chrysler's September sales rise 1 percent, led by Ram pickup and Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP) -- Chrysler Group LLC said Tuesday that its September U.S. sales rose 1 percent, led by the Ram pickup and Jeep Grand Cherokee large SUV.

BY THE NUMBERS: The Auburn Hills, Mich.-based automaker said it sold 143,017 cars and trucks last month, up from 142,041 a year earlier.

TOP SELLERS: Ram pickup sales were up 8 percent to 28,145. Grand Cherokee sales increased 19 percent to 14,906.

HOT MODELS: Dodge Durango SUV sales rose 66 percent to 4,964. Dodge Dart compact car sales were up 51 percent to 7,922.
