Android Ice Cream Sandwich, the current version of Google's mobile operating system, is now installed on more than 10% of all devices, according to the company's own stats

While Ice Cream Sandwich's distribution seems to be accelerating, it's still pitiful in comparison to install base of the latest versions of Apple's iOS and Microsoft's Windows Phone 7.

Ice Cream Sandwich launched more than seven months ago, yet carriers and manufacturers have had a difficult time getting upgrades to users. In some cases, Android phone owners will have to wait until this fall to get the upgrade.

And that's super embarrassing for Google, which plans to launch its next version of Android, called Jelly Bean, next month. By the time Jelly Bean is available, a large majority of Android devices will be a full two versions behind.
