Shares of solar stocks shine

Solar-panel maker SunPower (SPWR) rose 2.4% to 34.83 after it closed a $400 mil offering, with the debt convertible to shares initially valued at about $48.76 apiece, the company said in a regulatory filing. That would represent a 42.5% premium over Wed.'s closing price. Rising oil prices lifted solar and other energy stocks. IBD's Energy-Solar group rose above its 50-day average for the 1st time since April 4. First Solar (FSLR) climbed 0.6% to 63.90, SolarCity (SCTY) fell 0.3% to 50.65 and SunEdison (SUNE) fell 0.1% to 19.28.
