JACKSONVILLE, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
The Florida law firm Shutts & Bowen has represented Mattamy Homes in one of North Florida's most significant land transactions in the last decade.
Mattamy, Canada's largest new home developer, purchased the RiverTown community along the St. Johns River from the St. Joe Company. The deal, valued at $43.6 million and encompassing 4,057 acres, closed on Wednesday, April 2.
Brian Jones, a real estate partner in Shutts & Bowen's Orlando office, represented Mattamy in the closing. Shutts & Bowen represents Mattamy throughout Florida.
"This deal went very smoothly and quickly for a complex transaction of this size," said Brian Jones, a partner in the Orlando office of Shutts & Bowen's real estate group. "We are strong believers in the Jacksonville market, and we are seeking and finding new opportunities in North Florida."
RiverTown is the only riverfront master-planned community in Jacksonville. About 150 families currently live there, and it is approved for up to 4,950 homes, accommodating more than 10,000 people. Sales and construction are projected to begin in the fall.
Ellen Avery-Smith of Rogers Towers handled the closing on behalf of the St. Joe Company.
