HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) -- United Technologies Corp. has announced a new president of its Sikorsky Aircraft Corp. subsidiary.

The Hartford-based conglomerate announced the appointment of Mick Maurer on Monday.

Maurer joined the company in 1989 at its Otis Elevator Co. unit before joining Sikorsky as a vice president in 2000. Most recently he led a military systems unit at Stratford-based Sikorsky.

He succeeds Jeffrey Pino, who became Sikorsky's president in 2006 and is retiring in July.

Sikorsky designs and builds helicopter for commercial and military use.
