ST. GEORGE, Utah (AP) -- SkyWest Inc., which operates regional flights for larger airlines, said Friday that its passenger traffic rose 7.5 percent in April.
SkyWest Airlines And ExpressJet Airlines' revenue passenger miles, or how many miles all paying passengers flew during the month, totaled 2.6 billion, up from 2.45 billion in the same month a year ago.
Available seat miles, or capacity, increased 8 percent to 3.27 billion from 3.03 billion a year ago.
Load factor, the percent of seats sold to paying customers, fell to 80.5 percent from 80.9 percent.
For the year-to-date, revenue passenger miles increased 5.2 percent to 9.88 billion, while available seat miles rose 3.6 percent to 12.46 billion. Load factor rose 1.2 percentage points to 79.2 percent.
SkyWest has about 755 planes and operates SkyWest Airlines and ExpressJet Airlines and flights under the United Express, Delta Connection, American Eagle and US Airways Express brands.
