Shares of the nation's largest milk producer jumped as Q3 earnings topped Wall Street estimates, despite the departure of CFO Shaun Mara and general counsel Steve Kemps after it spun off WhiteWave (WWAV) last month. Dean Foods' (DF) Q3 EPS soared 83% to 33 cents, beating by 5 cents on an 8% drop in sales to $3.14 bil, topping. Smart Balance (SMBL), maker of the buttery spread, said EPS fell 50% to 3 cents, below outlook, as revenue rose 41% to $101.3 mil. Dean Foods shares rose 2% to 16.40. Smart Balance fell 13.4% to 10.58.
