Earnings, Revenue, Guidance All Strong
Spreadtrum Communications earned $0.57 a share in the first quarter on revenues of $161.1 million. That beat the analyst forecasts of $0.39 for the bottom line and $160 million for the top line. Guidance was also better than expected, and SPRD is higher by 16 percent before the bell on my tradeMONSTER platform.
Body Central Slammed by Weak Outlook
Body Central guided below consensus, projecting second-quarter earnings of $0.26 to $0.28 versus the $0.36 analyst estimate. Revenue will be no more than $82 million, while the Street expected $86.6 million. The outlook for the full year wasn't much better, and BODY is cratering 37 percent before the bell.
Deal Talk Pushes Einstein Noah Higher
Einstein Noah Restaurant Group reported first-quarter profit of $0.19 per share, beating estimates of $0.11. But the real news is that management is considering strategic alternatives, including a potential sale of the company. BAGL is rallying 29 percent in the premarket.
Sellers Hit Caribou Coffee After Misses
Caribou Coffee reported first-quarter revenues of $80.5 million versus the expected $81.65 million. For the full year, it expects to earn $0.47 to $0.50 a share on sales of no more than $352 million. Consensus called for $0.51 and $358 million, respectively. CBOU fell about 3.5 percent in the pre.
