Sprint Ties Up with NQ Mobile

Sprint Corporation (S) has reportedly collaborated with NQ Mobile Inc. (NQ) to allow its customers access to the latter’s NQ Music Radar technology on its latest smartphone, HTC One M8 Harman Kardon edition.

Further, NQ Mobile’s NQ live will be the default music experience for the new handset, which will be commercially available from this month to Sprint’s customers. We believe the new offering will provide enhanced wireless experience, and thus prove beneficial for new additions to Sprint’s existing customer base.

The agreement entails integration of NQ Mobile’s Music Live and Music Radar with Sprint’s Music Plus on HTC One M8 Harman Kardon edition. The new enhancement will enable customised content and functionality in real time. In addition, customers will also have access to live interactive wallpaper and instant music discovery and recognition through this latest technology enhancement.

We believe Sprint is working on its network modernization and integration efforts, which can fortify its position in the wireless industry. Aside from its conventional mobile wireless business, the company is also expanding its wireless services in the automotive market and has struck a deal with Rogers Communications Inc. to offer telematics services in Canada.

Sprint’s telematics service, known as “Sprint Velocity,” will provide seamless connectivity to vehicles under Rogers’ wireless network. The connected service will include news, weather, sports, navigation, climate control, security, emergency services and vehicle diagnostics.

In addition, the company is also venturing into mobile health services. Its mobile health business expanded its facility in Kansas City, resulting in development and commercialization of emerging mobile healthcare applications and services.

Sprint currently has a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold).
