Stock futures are higher this morning after Italy issued debt and financials climb.
The S&P 500 is up by about 0.15 percent to 1320 with gains of 0.3 percent to 0.6 percent in European indexes. Asian bourses closed higher by 0.8 percent to 1.3 percent in the overnight session.
Italian bond yields climbed to a six-month high, but demand remained similar to previous auctions. There is also speculation that China will take further steps to stimulate its economy.
Commodities and currencies are mixed as investors await key U.S. durable-goods data at 8:30 a.m. ET. Oil is slightly higher, while gold and industrial metals declined. The euro is weaker, which reflects risk aversion. But other currencies, including the Japanese yen and Australian dollar, are painting more optimistic pictures.
In company-specific news, AeroVironment is higher by 9 percent after earnings revenue beat estimates and guidance was strong. Monsanto is up by more than 1 percent after earnings and revenue beat expectations. Bristol-Myers Squibb gained almost 1 percent after adding $3 billion to its share buyback program.
