Stocks slide on jobs report, Facebook vs. eBay and ad block battle

U.S. stocks plunged after a lower than expected monthly jobs report was released earlier today. It looked for a time that they might make a run back towards flat but at the midday point in Friday's session both the Dow Jones Industrial Average (^DJI) and S&P 500 (^GSPC) were down more than a perecent and the Nasdaq (^IXIC) was close to a percent lower.

Ad blocking battle
Companies are expected to spend about $170 billion world-wide on digital advertising this year and they are starting to get tired of all us consumers blocking many of those ads. Now the Interactive Advertising Bureau is trying to find ways to fight back including lawsuits aimed at the companies that make ad blocking software.

Facebook vs. eBay
Facebook (FB) is taking on eBay (EBAY) with its latest advance into e-commerce. The social media site is now making it easier for users to buy and sell items through groups by removing a requirement that Facebook approve creation of each "for sale" group.

Grilling on the decline
Labor day weekend is upon us, will you be grilling? If so, you may be taking part in a tradition that's in slow decline. The percentage of U.S. households that grill a meal in a typical two-week period has slipped from 40 percent in 2009 to 35 percent last year, according to the NPD group.
