Strengthened Certificate Keys in Stoke LTE Security Gateway Defend Against Threats to Network Traffic and Critical Core Elements

SANTA CLARA, CA--(Marketwired - Oct 1, 2013) - In response to increased threats from break-ins and other security threats against LTE networks, leading LTE Security Gateway supplier Stoke, Inc. has improved its product's encryption and connection authentication mechanisms. The new capabilities, already commercially deployed, are available now to existing customers via a software upgrade and for prospective customer trials.

Stoke Security eXchange LTE security gateway now supports larger certificate keys (2048 bits), exponentially improving operators' ability to ensure the validity of security associations between two network nodes and greatly increasing the difficulty of cracking open encrypted traffic. For example, estimates claim that cracking encrypted traffic using the RSA algorithm based on 2048 bit certificate keys is more than 4 billion times more difficult than when using 1024 bit keys. The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) reports that 2048 bit keys can be regarded safe up to the year 2030.(1)
