SEATTLE, WA--(Marketwired - Jun 25, 2013) - Streambox, Inc. today announced Over the Top Productions, a Boulder-based cycling website, uses Streambox Live to stream live video content from bicycle races to their site (www.ott-productions.com). Over the Top Production's most recent streamed event was the Tour of California and utilized StreamboxME Pro software encoders installed on a Verizon Samsung Galaxy Android Camera and an AT&T iPhone. The StreamboxME Pro encoders enable easy streaming via the new Streambox Live Service. All video from the course was sent to the globally deployed Streambox Live servers where the live feed was transformed into multiple bitrates to accommodate users on different platforms to view video streams for mobile and desktop delivery. Amazon CDN was then used to deliver video to an unlimited number of iPhones, iPads, Android devices and Internet connected TVs around the world.
"We attend races all over the world, and the biggest hurdle has been finding reliable IP connections to stream video in these remote race locations," said George Thomas, Director of OTT Productions. "With StreamboxME Pro apps, I've been able to stream live video from locations that we were previously unable. During the Tour of California race our bandwidth varied from 50-1600Kbps and we were able to switch from our Verizon Galaxy Camera to our AT&T iPhone depending on which carrier was receiving higher bandwidth. The Streambox solution was a perfect mobile package that I could carry around and set up immediately without interfering with any spectators or racers." Now that OTT Productions is able to stream live video from races, Thomas is using Streambox Live at the finish line of the Race Across America ride ending in Annapolis, Maryland on the weekend of June 22nd. He will be capturing riders as they cross the finish line as well as conducting post race interviews.
Streambox Live solves first and last mile video issues and makes streaming events easy and affordable. Users can reliably capture video on any mobile device utilizing inexpensive ad-hoc LTE, 3G, and Wi-Fi connections allowing them to focus on the creative portion of the event.
Streambox focuses on IP-based, end-to-end newsgathering and contribution services. It delivers SD and HD software and hardware for video compression, transmission, management and playout. Streambox solutions are based on the industry-leading ACT-L3 codec, which provides unrivaled performance, reliability, and quality over low data rate IP networks. The company's platform enables broadcasters, government agencies, enterprises, and other users to enhance content ownership, simplify operations, and increase operational efficiencies.
