It is a strong start to the year for new and used car sales, with sellers reporting the highest February sales since 2006.
Figures from the Motor Trade Association (MTA) show demand has increased across the board for passenger and commercial vehicles and on-road motorcycles.
MTA spokesman Ian Stronach says while sales were down on January they are trending upwards with ongoing economic confidence.
He says the increased pool of used vehicles that qualify for import means the used import market is expanding particularly rapidly.
The Toyota Corolla, Holden Captiva and Suzuki Swift remain the most popular passenger vehicles.
The Toyota Hilux, Ford Ranger and Nissan Navara dominate the commercial market, while Suzuki, Honda and Harley Davidson are the most popular motorcycle brands.
