SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- A new study shows that Utah's hiring environment has improved substantially since it was last surveyed in 2009.
The job vacancy study conducted during the second quarter of 2012 measured the quantity and characteristics of job openings in Utah.
According to the study released Thursday, there were about 27,600 job openings in Utah at any time during the second quarter of 2012, and the average wage of those openings was $14.10 an hour.
The study found that job openings were filled fastest in the southwestern region, with 80 percent of jobs open less than 60 days. It also found that computer software developers and registered nurses were among the most in-demand occupations that required post-secondary training.
The full study can be found on the Utah Department of Workforce Services website.
