CVS Caremark's 1st-quarter profit climbs 9 pct; Walgreen contract dispute helps business

EARNNGS GROWTH: CVS Caremark Corp. posted eaernings of $776 million, or 59 cents per share, in the first quarter. That compares with $713 million, or 52 cents per share, last year. Revenue rose 20 percent to $30.8 billion.

Adjusted earnings were 65 cents per share.

EXPECTATIONS: Analysts surveyed by FactSet expected, on average, earnings of 62 cents per share on $30.3 billion in revenue.

NEW FORECAST: CVS Caremark now expects 2012 adjusted earnings to range between $3.23 and $3.33 per share. That's up from a previous forecast of $3.18 to $3.28 per share.
