LITITZ, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

In its November issue, CNN’s MONEY Magazine is highlighting Susquehanna Bank as one of The Best Banks in America, citing its interest-earning checking, above-average rates on savings, and new Stellar Checking account that allows customers to earn cash rewards for everyday banking.

Unveiled in March, Stellar Checking rewards customers with cash for using their debit card, paying bills online and transferring money to savings.

“Stellar Checking is just one of the many outstanding products and services we offer our customers to help them get the most out of their banking experience and reach their financial goals,” said William J. Reuter, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the bank’s parent company, Susquehanna Bancshares, Inc. “We’re honored to be included as one of America’s Best Banks, because it reflects our values as a community bank: working to create valuable financial products and providing personalized customer service.”

Susquehanna Bank was one of four banks included in the “Best Midsize Banks” category of MONEY. The article lauds Susquehanna’s interest-earning checking accounts, which have ‘relatively simple hurdles to avoid fees,’ along with its above-average rates on savings. It also highlights Susquehanna’s Stellar Checking with Smart Rewards checking account.

Stellar Checking with Smart Rewards pays customers 5 cents for every Susquehanna Visa Check Card point-of-sale transaction they make and every bill they pay through Susquehanna’s Online Banking Bill Pay system. Customers can also earn $1 every month when qualifying transfers to their savings account total $100 or more. In addition, customers earn an annual reward equal to 5 percent of their accumulated rewards throughout the year. More information is available at www.susquehanna.net/stellar.

In the article, Midsize Banks are defined as those with fewer than 1,000 branches. Susquehanna has 247 branches in four states, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland and West Virginia. As part of the selection process, MONEY looked at 58 of the nation’s largest banks and credit unions by deposits, according to financial services consultant Novantas, Inc.
