AT&T Enhances BlackBerry Experience

Telecom firm AT&T Inc (T) unveiled plans to roll out smartphones – BlackBerry Z10 and BlackBerry Q10 – and aims to bring in more customers under its wings.

The fastest and most upgraded BlackBerry smartphone till date, the BlackBerry Z10 will be offered to customers with a re-vamped, re-engineered and re-enhanced BlackBerry 10 platform. These smartphones, with a touchscreen keyboard, will have advance features that adapt smoothly to a customer’s requirements rendering a unique mobile experience. The other offering – BlackBerry Q10 – displays the traditional QWERTY keyboard.

AT&T – the first wireless firm to offer BlackBerry smartphones and services in the U.S. – will have BlackBerry Z10 run on 4G Long-Term Evolution (:LTE). These new BlackBerry 10 platform smartphones will have all prime BlackBerry features plus a rehashed version of Research In Motion Limited’s (RIMM) superior emailing facility, a quicker browser application and simple accessibility to messages in the BlackBerry hub.

San Antonio, Texas based AT&T is the second largest provider of wireless services in North America after Verizon Communications (VZ) and has the biggest 4G network in the U.S., covering nearly 288 million people. With attractive services plans and well-connected 4G LTE network, AT&T expects to lure new customers and gift them with a seamless communication experience.

Leading Canadian telecom service provider Telus Corporation (TU) also launched the BlackBerry Z10 smartphone in the nation’s markets. The handsets will be made available to customers for $149 for a period of three years with a minimum monthly plan of $50 before tax or $650 per month.

AT&T currently holds a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold). We are optimistic about AT&T’s growth prospects, driven by subscriber accretion, higher smartphones adoption, LTE mobile broadband network, iPhone sales and U-verse expansion that will lead to improved revenue growth.
