AT&T to Unveil Galaxy Note 4 and Other Samsung Devices

AT&T Inc. (T), announced that the company will be one of the leading operators to launch Google Inc.’s (GOOG) Android-based Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Edge smartphones. The company will also introduce a wearable device by Samsung, Samsung Gear, along with Samsung Gear Circle – a Bluetooth headset.

We believe the latest additions to its already existing pool of smart devices will ramp up AT&T’s popularity and attract gadget-friendly customers to its services.

In June, AT&T had announced that it will be one of the primary operators to launch Samsung Galaxy Tab S. The new tablet which runs on Google Inc.’s  Android 4.4 KitKat features Super AMOLED displays and has a sleek appearance measuring 6.6mm.

Apart from AT&T, other carriers that launched the Samsung Galaxy Tab S include Sprint Corporation (S) and Verizon Wireless of Verizon Communications Inc. (VZ).

Apart from selling an array of hi-end devices, AT&T is also banking on a number of strategic initiatives to improve its growth profile. Last year, the company began selling AT&T Next that allows customers to upgrade to smartphones and tablets every 12 or 18 months without any down payment, activation charge, upgrade cost or financing fees. The company’s Mobile Share plan is also gaining popularity with over 21 million post-paid subscribers already under its coverage.

The company has introduced new share-value plans to generate more sales as well as offer greater value to customers through increased savings with no annual service contract options. Further, in Jan 2014, AT&T came up with a promotional offer of $100 credit for new and existing customers who add an additional smartphone, tablet, feature phone, mobile hotspot or wireless home phone line. In Feb 2014, the company also slashed process on its family plans bringing the cost down to $160 per month for unlimited talk, text and 10 GB of data for a family of four.

AT&T currently has a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold).
