SALT LAKE CITY, April 18, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- USANA Health Sciences Inc. (USNA), a global nutritional supplements company, congratulates the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA) for being named Team Utah Partner of the Year and Women's Ski Jumping USA athlete, Sarah Hendrickson on being named Olympian of the Year by the Utah Sports Commission, at the 2013 Governor's State of Sport Awards. USANA is the official health supplement supplier of the USSA and WSJ-USA.
Organized in 1999, the Utah Sports Commission focuses on sport development to grow Utah's economy, enhance the state's image worldwide and leverage the state's world-class sports assets to enhance Utah's position in the global sports marketplace. Since 2000, the committee has partnered with 146 Olympic-related events, including more than 90 World Championships or World Cups, and has hosted more than 500 sporting events, generating $1.6 billion to the state's economy.
"USANA works endlessly to provide high-quality and NSF-tested products to more than 600 elite athletes each year, and we are honored to be able to contribute to the health and nutrition of these world-class organizations and athletes that make up what has become Utah's impressive sports landscape," said USANA Chief Communications Officer Dan Macuga. "We are honored to be partners of these teams and assist in the success of our sports community."
The USSA was recognized for providing athletes with all of their training needs under one roof at its Center of Excellence facility in Park City, and helping make Utah the center for Olympic sport in America by building on Utah's Olympic legacy. Hendrickson was honored for her season achievements and help in keeping the WSJ-USA team No. 1 in the world.
The Governor's State of Sport Awards honors excellence in sport and Utah's sport's industry on behalf of the Governor and the state of Utah. This year's awards were determined by approximately 58,000 votes that were tallied from seven countries to decide nominees and winners in nine categories. The event included a keynote address from eight-time Grand Slam Champion Andre Aggasi.
