You're probably supposed to treat it like with copper cookpots - a good scrub with salt and lemon juice will keep it shiny.

Heres the scoop : They're not worth it!!!

Further proof money doesn't buy brains or taste.

I know a most wonderful older man who is suffering from the pain of a hernia. His surgery here, in an impoverished country would only be several hundred dollars. He and his family cannot afford it. So sad to see him suffer, while others buy a thousand dollar desert plate.

I'm sorry but just because some one has an illness doesn't mean that those who can afford such obscenely expensive goods should have to shoulder another person's health issues. May not be my ability to afford these over the top goods but the USA is not a communist country. Let them buy if they want to...
      • lared 5 months ago
Sure, no one said that the wealthy should foot the bill of others. Only saying that is a very sad and unjust world.
      • HK 4 months ago
Lared, no. I don't eat any of this stuff but you can't make others to foot the bill of everything. I have car payments, rent expenses, and medical bills but I don't think to myself "I saw someone with a coach purse, they should pay my bills." I actually think "Once I get these things behind me, I want to focus hard on my life so I can afford awesome things."

These products suffer from lack of imagination. I can understand a car that is made from expensive metals and carbon fiber but some of these products are just dumb.

How about corporations (capital) creating businesses, capping their (executive) income and hiring (labor) and giving them shares in the companies. The money flows downward and upward continually. Everyone has what they need. Anyone outsourcing is "shot" as a traitor to our country.
      • HK 4 months ago
How about you take a course in writing? When you put quotation marks around shot, you seem like an idiot. And why would a company cap executive pay only to hire people? The point of a company is to make a profit, not to do weird socialist schemes that don't make any sense.

Why would anyone want to pay to eat gold? Gold has no flavor so eating it would just be a way to give the preverbal middle finger to poor people.
    • Hur Guler  •  5 months ago
Filthy rich spend in excess while the poor starve. I ain't no socialist but this type of spending makes me sick.
      • HK 4 months ago
Well, you sound like one. It's the free markets, you want to spend your money on whatever you want and no one can judge you. I bet most of the crap in your house was a terrible purchase but I won't judge you. So how about this, if you get rich, don't buy this stuff but don't tell others how to spend their money.
    • Tom M  •  5 months ago
I've got no problem with dumb, rich people spending their money on items like the ones described. Spend away if you've got it. What I do have a problem with is when those people got rich at the expense of others. The bankers who committed crimes and never paid for it, the commodity tycoons who manipulate the price of goods, and on and on. You will invite revolution if you continue to keep the field unfairly tilted in your direction.

        On target!
      • HK 4 months ago
Yeah... bankers that committed crimes? Not the people that took out loans and defaulted on them? Those are the criminals, people that took out loans that lied on their applications and then expect to stay in a house that they aren't paying for.

High prices today, does not guarantee quality, only satisfies social front. Name brands are losing power.

Was poor, then richer...and guess what? I was actually happier poorer because the more crap one buys\has, the more stress one has.

Easy living...a good pair of walking shoes, a comfortable backpack, a good tent, and a free thumb for hitchhiking. And at the end of the day, a warm meal and hot campfire.

Lighten up, folks. Do you think because you are suffering economically or any other way for that matter, everyone else in the world should go into mourning? There has been inequity since time began, get over yourselves. And as for the "let them eat cake" comment: I would agree it would be unconscionable if Bill Gates or some world leader were expressing that viewpoint, but they are not.

"a $25,000 dessert, an $845,000 bathtub, a $69 hot dog, a $1,000 bagel ... " THIS is where the extra taxes that the Middle and Lower income class have to pay - in order to subsidize the wealthy under the "Bush Tax Cuts for the Weealthy" only - goes to !!! Now ... if you make less than $250,000 per year ... aren't you glad to know that YOUR money is going toward these necessary items, instead of stupid stuff ... like food, rent, tuition, car repairs ... which you would otherwise have been wasting YOUR money on !?!?

I can't afford this stuff nor do I want any of it, but I do not begrudge those who can afford it and want it. People who spend their money help our economy. It's better than those with money who hoard it & do not help our economy,
