FTC isn't going to do anything, they're bribed by corporations like google to illegally distribute our personal information to marketing agencies.

(spelling is bad deliberately) Boy, these sense-ors are real cowards. Comment deleted 3 times for saying Imazon and Ibay should be investigated too. Their monopoly on search results puts 100,000s of small business in servitude to them, bound by rules that are destructive to them, and held in check by the threat of 'excommunication'. But - lacking a representative government there is little that can't be done.

the gov't can't regulate the internet from invasion of privacy concerns because the internet is not regulated
  • A Yahoo! User  •  3 months ago
the internt is currently a 'private network' of computers and isn't really regualted by any gov't agency which is why sopa as suggested...and which is why you see so much piracy, and illegal child porn and hate websites etc...gov't agencies cannot just shut down a website

telecommuncation laws banning sharing of information and privacy on isp ip addresses is grey area and not regulated...the problem is the internet is 'unregulated' for better or worse..which is why you still see child porn etc and tonnes of illegal activities...the gov't cannot regulate it based on current laws. as the internet still new area of law
  • A Yahoo! User  •  3 months ago
The FTC laws haven't kept with invasion of privacy in the internet because this technology or method of sharing of information between websites was n't possible 10 years ago
  • A Yahoo! User  •  3 months ago
these websites like google who make 90% of their profit from advertising profit from selling ads and each user is worth more if it's a target market.
  • A Yahoo! User  •  3 months ago
There is no privacy on the internet these days. I mean ISP don't even give out dynamic ip addresses anymore? Before when people were usind dial-up, ISP had different ip address everytime you logged in. Now you ip address is same for like months. or for a month same ip address. Sites like ebay, amazon or any of the ecommerce website like paypal and even your brokerage logs your ip address and even mac address. so the cookies block no longer block your privacy. Those advertiserss or websites knows who you are same as walking into store showing them your drivers license with today's software in the internet if websites are 'sharing' information about site users. This information is useful to advertisers because it's call target marketing and advertisers pay more for target market. A 12 year old surfer is worthless to a car maker etc. whereas a 30 year old is their target market so worth more in target market. etc. yes invasion of your privacy is about making money and nothing more.
