Today's charts: Community Health Systems, HCA Holdings, Tenet Healthcare gain ahead of health care vote

Yahoo Finance is tracking health care stocks ahead of Thursday’s action on Capitol Hill. The House is expected to hold a nail-biting vote on a bill to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act (ACA).

With the clock ticking, it’s far from certain whether or not Republicans will secure the 215 votes needed to get the new bill passed. They can’t afford to lose more than 21 votes from their own party, and that’s prompted President Donald Trump to up the pressure on wary GOP lawmakers who are threatening to vote against the new plan. He took to Twitter Thursday morning to make a public appeal for support:

The uncertainty is what’s driving hospital stocks in intraday trading. After falling earlier this week, the sector is moving higher in mid-morning trading on Thursday.

Community Health Systems (CYH), HCA Holdings (HCA), Tenet Healthcare (THC) and Universal Health Services (UHS) are in positive territory, gaining back some of the losses suffered earlier this week. The Health Care SPDR ETF (XLV) is also trading slightly higher, up 0.3% as of 11:30 a.m. ET on Thursday.
