Trading is halted on option markets

Monday saw technical problems with option orders from Goldman Sachs, yesterday had some odd issues involving the CBOE Volatility Index and the VIX futures settlement. Today there appear to be issues with NYSE Arca and now all NASDAQ option markets, which have halted trading.

It appears that automated trading has again run amok here. We are not exactly what is going on, and apparently neither do the regulators,  but it certainly doesn't help market confidence. While it sounds like the issues are coming from the machines, it has many asking why the option exchanges don't all have have the same rules in regard to broken trades and related issues.

We will provide updates as needed.
