HARRISBURG, PA--(Marketwired - September 11, 2013) - State Treasurer Rob McCord issued the following statement on the anniversary of the terrorist attacks within the United States 12 years ago today.
"As we call to mind the tragic events of September 11, 2001, it gives us an opportunity to rededicate ourselves to the American spirit and to the promise of freedom that our country holds so dear.
"We remember in our prayers the innocent victims of the terrorist attacks -- and extend our condolences once again to their loved ones. We give thanks for the bravery of the first responders who lost their lives in service to others. We admire the courage of the passengers and crew on Flight 93 who battled the terrorists in the skies above Pennsylvania.
"This solemn anniversary serves as a reminder that we never know when or how we might be called upon to sacrifice for the cause of liberty, but we do know we must remain vigilant and strong to preserve the blessing of freedom for future generations."
