NEW YORK (AP) -- Time Warner Cable Inc. on Tuesday announced an update to its mobile app that puts subscribers a baby step closer to being able to watch programming that they already pay for outside the home.
The update currently only allows live viewing of nine less popular channels, such as BBC America and TVGuide Network. Viewing is limited to Verizon Wireless customers over cellphone networks, while other customers must rely on Wi-Fi access.
The company's TWC TV app offers a much larger array of channels on mobile devices as long as they are connected via a subscriber's home network.
The mobile app, to be updated Wednesday morning for Apple devices, includes some on-demand programming from 26 other networks, including MTV, Comedy Central, HGTV and Food Network.
