U.S life insurers spike on improved 10-year yield

U.S life insurer stocks are outperforming the broader market as the negotiations to avert the fiscal cliff improved the 10-year yield to over 1.82%. Life insurance stocks have been hurt by very low yields from Treasuries for years. In mid-day trading, MetLife (MET) is up 6.25% to $35, Hartford Financial (HIG) is up 4.1% to $23.38, Prudential (PRU) is up 3.5% to $55.18, and Lincoln National (LNC) is up 4.45% to $27.
