U.S. oil posts largest increase

More fracking helped boost '12 domestic oil production to the largest single-year increase, according to a study by BP (BP). Global energy consumption rose by 1.8% last year, a smaller increase than in '11, on growing consumption in China and India. For the first time, China uses the majority of the world's coal. Nuclear output declined. Japan increased imports of liquefied natural gas.
