U.S. Stock Futures Trade Flat

U.S. stock index futures were trading flat Tuesday.

The S&P 500 Futures edged down 0.50 points to 1802.00 points while the Nasdaq Futures edged down 0.20 points to 3428.80 points.

Economic reports ahead of the opening bell include the Census Bureau’s building permits data and housing starts, both due at 8.30 a.m. Eastern Time. Also, the Redbook index is at 8.55 a.m., followed by the S&P/Case-Shiller house price index at 9.00 a.m.

Investors are also focused on the Conference Board’s consumer confidence index expected at 10.00 a.m.

Companies reporting results after the market close include HP, Analog Devices, and Tivo, among others. Tiffany, Barnes & Noble, and Eaton Vance are due to report before the opening bell, along with a number of other companies.

Asian markets ended lower today after a lackluster session while European markets were also trading with losses midmorning.
