U.S. Stock Futures Trend Higher

U.S. stock index futures were up Wednesday with the focus remaining on earnings reports.

The S&P 500 Futures were up 2.75 points to 1977.75 points while the Nasdaq Futures were up 6.30 points to 3956.80 points.

The data calendar is empty Wednesday, leaving investors free to focus on a number of blue-chip earnings reports.

Boeing and PepsiCo are due to report results before the market opens. Boeing was down 0.4% in after-hours while Pepsi was marginally lower. Delta Air Lines and Whirlpool are also set to report ahead of the opening bell.

However, reacting to results late yesterday, Apple was down 0.4% in pre-market trading while Microsoft was up 1.1%.

After the market close, results from AT&T and Facebook will be in focus.

Earlier Wednesday, Asian markets ended with modest gains. European markets were also modestly higher midday.
