UA Local 198 to Open Training Center in Lake Charles

LAKE CHARLES, LA--(Marketwired - Nov 13, 2014) - The United Association Union of Plumbers, Pipefitters, Pipe Welders and Service Technicians (UA) Local 198 will hold the grand opening ceremony for its new training center in Lake Charles, Louisiana, on Wednesday, November 19, at 10:00 a.m.

As labor demand increases dramatically along the Gulf Coast, particularly in the Lake Charles area, the new Local 198 Training Center in Lake Charles represents a significant investment by the UA and its contractor partners that will benefit both industry and the community.

This state-of-the-art facility will include 52 welding booths as well as ample classroom space. It will also include an authorized testing facility that will allow for testing and immediate dispatch of welders.

The facility is part of the United Association's expansion of its presence along the U.S. Gulf Coast. The training center will help the UA meet the growing manpower demands in this region. It is a demonstration of the UA's commitment to contractors and owners alike, who are part of the significant growth along the Gulf Coast.

The event will include a welcome and address from UA General President William P. Hite, a tour of the facility, and an industry expo featuring mechanical contractors who will share information about their expertise and capabilities. For more information or to RSVP, contact Wendy Daniel at (225) 356-3333 or at wendy@local198.org.

The United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States, Canada and Australia (UA), affiliated with the national building trades, represents approximately 370,000 plumbers, pipefitters, sprinkler fitters, service technicians and welders in Local Unions across North America and Australia.
