In an effort to simplify payments of medical bills, U.S. health insurer UnitedHealth Group Inc. (UNH) has introduced online payment service.
UnitedHealth initiated this service along with InstaMed, the leading health care payments network company. The facility is named as myClaims Manager and will make it convenient for more than 21 million plan participants of the company’s schemes. The service will be available throughout the U.S.
Along with making payments online, the customers can also avail other services like managing their health care claims and related expenses.
UnitedHealth already had a portal called myuhc.com for plan participants. This online bill payment facility is now added to it. The online facility allows members to check their claims status; amount of their individual and out of pocket spending; keeping a check on their medical expenses for tax purposes; provide claim details; enabling the customers to follow up with their claims as well giving them an explanation for complicated medical terms.
This step is in sync with the company’s effort to simplify every step of the healthcare payments process all in one place, to collect more, get paid faster and reduce the time and costs to collect.
The facility is easy to use and payments can be made simply by using credit card, debit card, health savings account, or bank account information.
While making it convenient for the customers, this service will help the health care providers to receive timely payment from customers. Physicians as well as other health care providers can receive online payments by registering themselves on the facility.
UnitedHealthcare employer customers of all sizes as well as their employees can use this service. With technological advancement increasing, a number of people are using online and other ways to interact with health care professionals as well as to make payments.
The Health Care Reform also encourages health providers to make investments in technology, which will bring down overall health related costs.
Other health insurers which are increasingly investing in technology are Aetna Inc. (AET), WellPoint Inc. (WLP) as well as CIGNA Corp. (CI).
Going forward we expect to see health insurers design more online services and make increased use of technology.Read the Full Research Report on UNH
