VBrick Systems Delivers ‘Technology Firsts’ with Next Generation Video Encoding Appliance

New 9000 Series Quadruples the HD Video Encoding Performance of the Competition

WALLINGFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Enterprise IP video leader VBrick Systems today unveiled the 9000 Series, a groundbreaking line of Video Encoding Appliances that deliver an unmatched level of HD video quality and best-in-class encoding density. The 9000 Series offers quadruple the performance of what is currently available, delivering more HD encoding per-square-inch and unmatched price-performance; it simply out performs the competition and literally resets the bar for video encoding. The 9000 Series Encoding Appliance will be demonstrated at the upcoming ISE tradeshow, January 31 – February 2, in Amsterdam, Booth 10Q116.

The explosive growth in video use in corporate, education, government and healthcare institutions is the driver for the innovation behind the 9000 Series. Enterprises need:

Greater Encoding Density for television distribution, digital signage and a variety of other applications. This enables more efficient video distribution from enterprise head-ends where physical space is precious and encoding per-square-inch becomes a deciding factor for a successful deployment. Installations are also greener as the 9000 Series reduces per channel footprint, power consumption and HVAC usage/expense.

Better Video Quality for today’s high quality, large displays; users simply expect HD quality video. The success of mission-critical surveillance and telemedicine applications are driven by image quality; requiring industry-leading 1080p60 fps.

Superior Price-performance makes it possible to fundamentally change the economics of implementing a pan-enterprise IP video strategy. It is now possible to introduce live and on-demand HD quality video into a wide array of communication and collaboration applications.

More Efficient Network Utilization is delivered by the 9000 Series’ support for High Profile encoding, delivering the same video quality while saving up to 50% in bandwidth as compared to traditional Baseline Profile encoding.

Better Support for Popular PC, Mobile and Display Endpoints is enabled by the Series’ unique Universal Protocol Engine that delivers video using any one of seven H.264 transport protocols including Flash™, and IIS Smooth Streaming™. The 9000 Series is also the first encoding appliance that can be intuitively managed from a mobile app, offering a richer interface than traditional device–based controls.

“VBrick continues to be a leader in IP video encoding and delivery,” reports Ira M. Weinstein, senior analyst and partner at Wainhouse Research. “The 9000 Series of video encoding appliances offer a compelling combination of high performance, high channel density, and reasonable cost, making them well suited to address a wide range of customer applications. The 9000 encoders are a strong addition to the company’s end-to-end content capture, management, and delivery platform.”

The 9000 Series is the newest capture element of the VBrick Enterprise Video Architecture (VEVA), which spans video capture, content management, distribution and video display. Integration into the VEVA architecture dramatically simplifies deployment and use, delivering centralized management and scheduling functions as well as intuitive browser-based management interfaces. When used in conjunction with other VEVA solutions – specifically VBrick’s VEMS Mystro™ content management solution and the H.264 Distributed Media Engine – the 9000 Series is able to deliver video to any device, over any network.

“The past year has been an incredible period of innovation for VBrick. In the spring we introduced the H.264 Distributed Media Engine to enable the deployment of true Enterprise-based Content Delivery Networks. This summer VBrick made IP video personal, collaborative and accessible with the release of our next generation VEMS Mystro video management portal, and now we are eclipsing the competition again with best-in-class encoding performance. It’s no surprise VBrick leads the market with more deployed units and real-world experience – after all we invented the video encoding appliance more than a decade ago,” said John Shaw, chief operating officer, VBrick. “With two times 1080p60 performance, multiprotocol support, quad channel HD encoding and tight integration into the VEVA architecture, we continue to set the standard for enterprise IP video.”

VBrick encoders are designed with purpose-built hardware and software, as well as a real-time operating system. This unique appliance approach combines encoding, networking, stream serving and recording functions to deliver unmatched price-performance and ease-of-use. The chart below describes several “technology firsts” including two 1080p60 or four 1080p30 encoders, higher density, superior manageability and best in-class price performance.
