WASHINGTON, Nov 11 (Reuters) - The airline Virgin AmericaInc asked for permission on Monday to file a brief with thecourt hearing the Justice Department's bid to stop a merger ofUS Airways and American Airlines, arguing for barriers to entryto be lowered in the industry.
Virgin said in its filing that it was the most recentairline to enter the U.S. market, and that the proposed dealbetween U.S. Airways and American, one thatwould create the world's largest carrier, would solidify alreadyconsiderable impediments to new entrants.
