Virtusa Corporation (VRTU), a global business consulting and IT outsourcing company that combines innovation, technology leadership and industry solutions to transform the customer experience, today announced that it has been named a finalist in the 2014 ERE Recruiting Excellence Awards for “Recruitment Department of the Year.” Virtusa was honored for its innovative best practices and processes for recruiting highly-skilled individuals. The ERE Awards are put on by ERE Media, a leading source for information, rankings and conferences related to HR and recruiting.

“Not only do we have the right practices and processes for recruiting and hiring individuals that we know will be a good fit in our organization, we consistently benchmark ourselves and measure the quality of our hires,” said Sundararajan Narayanan, senior vice president and global head of HR at Virtusa. “We also realize that this is a two way street: not only do we want to hire the right individuals, we are committed to creating an environment where they can thrive and reach their full potential. As we continue to recruit and grow our company, ensuring quality of life will remain a top priority.”

Virtusa’s Talent Acquisition team was honored for its recruiting best practices which encompass much more than just interview-to-hire and cost-per-hire ratios, but also measure the quality of hires and most important, the impact on the business. Virtusa has unique recruitment processes in place every step of the way, from posting a job opening to screening and interviewing a candidate, to determining if that candidate is a right fit culturally and technically. Additionally, in the past year, Virtusa’s Talent Acquisition team took steps to work much more collaboratively and closely with the business teams to ensure quality of hires. The company was also honored for providing top-notch training programs which facilitate upward career movements.

As a company whose workforce is 86 percent Millennial, Virtusa has made it a top priority to create an environment that not only retains Millennial employees, but also engages and empowers them to do their best work. Virtusa regularly solicits feedback from team members, uses a Communications Framework platform to improve communication between team members and its leadership team, and has built custom internal social networks where Virtusans can interact and collaborate. The company also holds interactive “YamJam” sessions using Yammer and leverages gamification, rewarding team members for their dedication and hard work.

Over the past two years, Virtusa has been recognized all over the globe with numerous HR-related awards. Virtusa was named a top place to work by The Times Union and WorkplaceDynamics and was recently named to the Achievers 50 Most Engaged Workplaces list. The company was also honored with the International Business Award (Stevies) for Best People Practices for the second consecutive year, the Asia Best Employer Brand Award for HR Excellence and the Golden Peacock Award for HR Excellence.
