The ITSF conference will focus on the implications and challenges of delivering precise "time" to within a few 100 nanoseconds versus general "timing" in telecom networks. Precise time or "phase" synchronization is considered critical to addressing the exponentially increased bandwidth demands due to smart device usage and network migrations to 4G, LTE and LTE-Advanced. Additional conference topics will examine vulnerabilities and mitigation solutions for IEEE 1588 PTP networks.
Mr. Joergensen will present during Session Three: Time and Phase Applications and Challenges, chaired by Martin Kingston, Stefano Ruffini and Tim Frost, on November 5, 2013 at 1:40 p.m. local time. His session, "Considerations for building accurate PTP networks for now and the future," will look at the need to d nanosecond-accurate network timing, technology considerations, and best practices.
Mr. Joergensen has over 20 years of experience in the semiconductor industry and is a recognized industry expert in timing and synchronization for communications networks. He is an active contributor in the development of recommendations in ITU-T Study Group 15/Question 13 covering SyncE and PTP profiles for frequency and phase delivery. Mr. Joergensen holds a bachelor's of science in engineering from Technical University of Denmark.
