Weak Government Spending Blamed
VMware expects first-quarter revenue of $1.17 billion to $1.19 billion, while analysts were projecting $1.25 billion. The software company blamed the miss on weak orders from the federal government and announced big job cuts in response. VMW is down 18 percent before the bell on my tradeMONSTER platform.
Yahoo Earnings, Revenue Beat Consensus
Yahoo reported profit of $0.32 a share on revenue of $1.22 billion. The Street only expected $0.28 and $1.21 billion, respectively. That has YHOO higher by 3 percent in early trading.
Guidance Sends Seagate Lower
Seagate Technology results beat expectations in its second quarter, but the outlook for the current quarter isn't so hot. Management sees revenue of $3.25 billion to $3.45 billion, while analysts expected $3.48 billion. That has STX lower by 6 percent in the premarket.
