Vodafone deal may hit Verizon

Investor's Business Daily

Reports that the U.K. telecom company might buy a German cable TV operator, Kabel Deutschland, for up to $9.3 bil, could have implications for its U.S. wireless partner, Verizon Communications (VZ), as well as for Liberty Global (LBTYA). Verizon has been interested in buying out Vodafone's (VOD) stake but the 2 companies haven't been able to agree on a price and if Vodafone buys Kabel Deutschland, it would not be under pressure to sell its Verizon Wireless stake. Verizon shares fell 0.6% to 49.90. Vodafone fell 2.4% to 28.12, and Liberty fell 0.8% to 72.59 .
