Vringo says validity of Chinese patent upheld

Vringo announced that the Patent Re-Examination Board of the State Intellectual Property Office of the People's Republic of China has upheld the validity of Chinese Patent ZL00806049.5, owned by Vringo's wholly-owned subsidiary Vringo Infrastructure. The patent, which is the Chinese equivalent of European Patent 1,166,589, was placed into re-examination by ZTE Corporation on November 6, 2012. To date, ZTE has placed seven Vringo patents into re-examination in China. As of today, the Patent Re-Examination Board has upheld the validity of two of these patents. ecisions on the validity of the other five patents remain pending before the Board. ZTE retains the right to file an appeal against today's decision with the Beijing First Intermediate People's Court before August 30.
