TWST: Is there a particular investment strategy or area that you would like to focus on today?

Mr. Swaim: I want to focus on our value approach to investing. We look for value across market capitalizations and geographies. The majority of our business is building portfolios of domestic stocks, but we have a growing global and international franchise as well. Firm wide, we currently manage approximately $11 billion in assets, and we have several mutual funds, including the Advisory Research All Cap Value Fund, ADVGX; our Global Value Fund, ADVWX; our International Small Cap Value Fund, ADVIX; and our Small Company Opportunities Fund, ADVSX.

TWST: What would you point out in terms of history or overview of the firm as an introduction to Advisory Research?

Mr. Swaim: Advisory Research was founded in 1974, so we have almost 40 years of history as a firm. I would say the institutional growth of the business has happened in the last decade, as we've expanded our value-based product lineup from small-cap-oriented domestic securities to include midcap, large-cap, all-cap securities, and eventually the international and global markets - but we've done this with a very consistent, value-based investment approach across all of our market geographies and capitalizations. A common thread among all of our investments is that we seek asset-rich companies with prudent amounts of leverage and consistent profitability, and we try to accumulate those durable businesses in our client portfolios at attractive prices...
