This is why everyone is talking about last night’s “DWTS’s” elimination

If you missed the most recent Dancing with the Stars episode, the news of Heather and Maks’ shocking DWTS elimination will hit pretty hard. Because the two had been doing SO well; they literally earned the season’s first perfect score with their rumba to the sound of TLC’s “Waterfalls” earlier in the night.

So….WHY?! Well, at the end of the day it’s still a fan-fueled competition, and in large part, a lot comes down to fan votes. So when they found themselves up against Nancy Kerrigan and Artem Chigvintsev, no one was really ‘safe.’ But Morris and Chmerkovskiy handled their elimination like total professionals.

“I’m okay,” said Morris. “It’s a hard competition and I’m really happy that I got to do exactly what I got to do. It was very, very fun.'”

Others were caught off guard though, like Chmerkovskiy’s fiance Peta Murgatroyd.

“I was just flabbergasted,” Murgatroyd shared with People.com. “Maks had just come back [from his ankle injury] and was so positive and really excited to be back and dancing again — and now to just get out like that, it hurts me as much as it hurts him. I just thought they would stay.”

Pro dancer Sasha Farber added that their elimination was “nuts.”

“It just shows you can get perfect scores and then something like this can happen,” he said. “It just puts into perspective and proves we have to be on our toes the whole time.”

And the internet people had opinions, because of course.

We hope that Morris and Chmerkovskiy know that they are incredibly talented. It’s sad to see them go, but we’re celebrating their achievements and looking forward to seeing more of them in the future.

You go, guys!
