GREENVILLE, S.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Wilbert Burial Vault of Greenville, operating in ten upstate counties since 1947, will host a state-approved continuing education class for funeral professionals on Thursday, November 7, at its office and manufacturing plant on Young Court. This class will be held from 9am-2pm and have two segments: cremation issues and choices and how social media applies to the death-care industry. Participants will receive 4 CEU credits. There is no charge to attend although online registration is required.
The first session, Factoring Cremation into Today’s Business; Cremation Issues and Choices, will be led by guest speaker, Kathleen Berry. Berry has been a licensed funeral director in the state of Ohio since 1979 and worked for Wilbert Funeral Services for more than 15 years, where she assisted licensees in training and continuing education efforts before starting her own consultancy business. This session will provide insight in how to correctly respond to the growing demand for cremation, as well as techniques to create value during the arrangement conference, and effective ways to display and present memorialization products.
Guest speaker Ryan Thogmartin will lead the second session, Cutting through the Hype: Social Media is Worthless. Thogmartin is the Owner of DISRUPT Media Group and ConnectingDirectors.com. He has been practicing online marketing and digital media for over a decade and will provide great insight on social media practices within the burial vault and funeral services industry. Topics will include how to debunk the myth that consumers are not talking about death on social media, why the baby boomer generation is one of the largest social media user groups, and how to use social media as part of the funeral experience.
