Well, sort of.
Iconic film and TV legend William Shatner took to the field at Fenway Park to portray the home plate umpire in the first music video ever to be filmed in its entirety at the legendary baseball field, home to The Boston Red Sox.
Shatner co-stars in "At Fenway," a music video for "The Croonerman," Brian Evans. The song is produced by Narada Michael Walden, who produced Evans new CD/DVD special edition. Walden is known for producing Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, and Elton John.
The music video is a campy portrayal of a fan of The Boston Red Sox.
"It`s my fantasy, my field of dreams," says Evans.
Evans mother, Helen Bousquet, co-stars in the music video along with car magnate Ernie Boch, Jr., who portrays the Red Sox manager in the music video. The video was done with the full blessing of Major League Baseball and The Boston Red Sox.
A new CD/DVD will be available on ITunes entitled "Brian Evans - At Fenway." The CD features 11 tracks produced by Walden, including original songs by Evans such as "I`m A Traveler."
"Every Boston Red Sox fan we approached said that William Shatner as the home plate umpire was as iconic as the ballpark itself," says Evans.
Brian Evans expects to make various appearances with Shatner throughout the 2013 baseball season. Evans will also appear on numerous talk shows to promote the new music video.
An online store is now accepting pre-orders for the CD/DVD. The DVD features the music video, and special footage including Shatner and Evans.
Shatner`s role in "At Fenway," which was filmed at Fenway Park, was the first time he`d ever set foot in the ballpark in his life.
