SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- Home goods retailer Williams-Sonoma Inc. said Friday that Julie Whalen has been named permanent chief financial officer.
Whalen replaces Sharon McCollam, who retired in March. Whalen had been serving as acting chief financial officer since McCollam retired.
Whalen joined Williams-Sonoma, which operates namesake stores, Pottery Barn, West Elm, and other stores, in 2001 and has served in a variety of positions, including treasurer.
Based in San Francisco, Williams-Sonoma operates 575 stores, seven direct mail catalogs and six Web sites.
Shares rose $1.17, or 3.4 percent, to $35.20. The stock is down 8.6 percent so far this year.
