LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - Dec 11, 2012) - Winston Baker, the leading global producer of film finance conferences, announces the 2013 Film Finance Forum Series and once again, Variety, the industry's leading entertainment news provider has come on board as the exclusive US entertainment media partner for the series.
Next year's conferences will include these annual programs:
- 5th Annual Film Finance Forum West on March 5-7, 2013 in Los Angeles, California
- 5th Annual Film Finance Forum East on April 16, 2013 in New York, New York
- 4th Annual International Film Finance Forum on May 17, 2013 in Cannes, France
- 4th Annual Film Finance Forum @ Zurich Film Festival on September 28, 2012 in Zurich, Switzerland
"There are many crucial topics that need to be addressed at next year's series of forums. The equity and debt markets are once again buoyant for the film industry, so ways to access this capital will be discussed; many online platforms are being developed to distribute films, which in turn is creating new problems for digital distribution; and ways to generate real revenues in major emerging markets will need to be explored; among other issues," said Katherine Winston, Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Winston Baker.
To examine these territories further, inaugural events will be hosted in these new locations:
- Inaugural Film Finance Forum China in June of 2013 in Shanghai, China
- Inaugural Film Finance Forum Latin America in August of 2013 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
The Brazilian market is growing in a fast pace, led by Rio de Janeiro's audiovisual industry. "Local production is booming," said Sergio Sa Leitao, Chief Executive Officer of RioFilme. "We have new investment funds, new players in production and distribution, new incentives and a desire to be more international. The Film Finance Forum to be hosted in Rio will address those issues, promoting the exchange of experiences, practices and knowledge among investors, producers and entrepreneurs from different countries."
In addition to RioFilme, supporting organizations for the 2013 Film Finance Forum Series include Entertainment Partners, Film Production Capital, Rothstein Kass, and the Motion Picture Association (MPA).
Mike Ellis, President and Managing Director Asia Pacific of the MPA, said, "In the last few years we have witnessed a major transformation in the way films are being produced, distributed and screened, and the industry has rapidly become one involving sophisticated international partnerships. Given this dynamic environment, there are plenty of good reasons to focus on the vital aspects of film financing, and there are no better exponents of this than Winston Baker. The MPA looks forward to being involved."
