WiSpry Announces Dr. Arthur Morris Named an IEEE Fellow

Morris has been named an IEEE Fellow by the IEEE Board of Directors for his significant contributions to the field of radio frequency (RF) engineering. Joining the 2013 class of 298 global recipients, Dr. Morris’ innovations enable a unique class of CMOS-based RF micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS)-enabled devices, circuits and systems that reduce mobile device size and cost by providing a combination of tunability and low insertion loss far beyond that achievable with conventional silicon technology. MEMS-based RF components improve performance while reducing distortion, power consumption, time-to-market and cost, all critical factors in consumer devices such as cellular phones.

Dr. Morris possesses over 30 years of experience in high-frequency electronics and devices. He has contributed to device technologies from traveling wave tubes to HBTs and developed products for markets from high voltage instrumentation to broadband communication systems. Prior to founding WiSpry, Dr. Morris was director of technology at Microcosm Technologies (now Coventor), where he was responsible for next-generation development for RF and optical applications of MEMS. Dr. Morris was previously a development manager and acting development director at Raychem Corp. (now part of Tyco Electronics), responsible for product development for wireless, twisted pair and HFC networks. In addition to his work at WiSpry, Dr. Morris is an adjunct professor at North Carolina State University.
