WMS Industries buys gaming software developer Genesis Communications for undisclosed sum

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa (AP) -- Slot machine maker WMS Industries Inc. has purchased privately held gaming software developer Genesis Communications Inc. in order to expand its product offerings.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

WMS, based in Waukegan, Ill., said Friday that the buyout will broaden its presence the rapid growing mobile and social media markets.

Genesis Communications, which does business as Phantom EFX, is based in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Its products are available on personal computers, tablets, mobile phones, on social networking sites like Facebook and on other platforms.

WMS Industries closed at $19.41 on Thursday. That is near the lower end of its 52-week range of $16.24 to $31.23 per share.
