Word & Brown General Agency to Conduct Seminars Throughout California to Help Health Insurance Brokers Prepare for Healthcare Reform

    ORANGE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

Word & Brown General Agency® announced today that over the next six weeks it will be conducting a series of nine seminars throughout California to help position health insurance brokers for success in the changing health insurance marketplace.

“These seminars have been expressly designed in response to all of the regulatory changes that flow from the Affordable Care Act (ACA),” said Jessica Word, executive vice president of Word & Brown General Agency. “It is vitally important that brokers stay up to date with the developments and employer requirements under the new law so they can help guide their clients through open enrollment taking place later this year.”

Each of the seminars will consist of three different classes for which attending brokers will receive four hours of continuing education credit toward their certification as an insurance professional. It is expected that close to 1,000 of California’s leading health insurance brokers will attend these seminars.

At the seminars brokers will receive up-to-the-minute information on the most recent regulatory guidelines including how California law AB 103 impacts the small-group marketplace under the implementation of the ACA and new regulations for determining group size, calculating rates, enrollment procedures and more. Another session will provide an understanding of how to define a “full-time” employee under healthcare reform and how brokers can use this information to help employers determine their group size for insurance purposes.

“We’re conducting these seminars in person – rather than through webinars – to encourage interaction among attendees and the opportunity to dialog with the presenters,” said Word. “The information is too important and stakes are too high to simply provide one-way communication and leave it at that.”

The first of the nine seminars will be held on March 5 in Rancho Cordova. That will be followed by seminars in San Rafael (March 6), Concord (March 7), Fresno (March 19), San Jose (March 20), Orange (March 26), San Diego (March 28), Riverside (April 5) and Glendale (April 9).
