NEW YORK (AP) -- The women's clothing chain New York & Company Inc. announced Thursday evening that it has appointed Laura Weil as executive vice president and chief operating officer.
Weil has been an executive consultant to New York & Company since Feb. 1. She will continue to lead the company's sourcing, planning and allocation, product life management, real estate and information technology. She previously was CEO of Ashley Stewart, a fashion apparel and accessory retailer for women, from 2008 to 2011.
New York & Company, based in New York, operates 541 retail stores in 43 states.
Shares of the company fell 8 cents, or 2.4 percent, to close at $3.30 Thursday and lost another 5 cents after hours.
