Zhone Technologies Introduces MXK XG-PON1 Line Card at FTTH Stockholm 2014

Next generation XG-PON1 solution enables bandwidth speeds of up to 10 Gbps downstream and 2.5 Gbps upstream

Oakland, CA - February 18, 2014 - Zhone Technologies, Inc. (ZHNE), a global leader in FTTx network access solutions, today announced the introduction of the XG-PON1 Line Card for MXK. The card delivers up to 10 Gbps downstream and 2.5 Gbps upstream over a passive optical network, enabling service providers to deliver sophisticated applications and video services. Zhone will showcase the new solution at FTTH Stockholm 2014, February 18-20, 2014 (booth S33).

Offerings such as online gaming, interactive E-learning, remote medical services, and Ultra HD TV are rapidly increasing bandwidth demand. GPON provides one of the most cost-effective ways for operators to deploy fiber-based services to the home or business. The MXK platforms` non-blocking architecture and intelligent processing enable GPON networks to deliver uncompromising quality for the full range of triple-play services.

"Zhone`s newest XG-PON1 line card is in preliminary test and trials with our customers now," said Brian Caskey, chief marketing officer at Zhone Technologies. "The new line card`s scalable design helps service providers meet challenging and future demands on access networks. As Zhone`s MXK continues to evolve with the needs of service providers delivering fiber services, the new line card helps to further position our customers, MXK and Zhone for the future in optical networking. Zhone`s FiberHome portfolio brings together a diverse combination of products and solutions that enable service providers to offer the advanced broadband services customers desire."

Zhone`s MXK intelligent terabit access concentrator reflects a clean-sheet approach to multi-service architecture. Each of Zhone`s solutions, including its MXK platforms, provide business and residential customers with unique fiber solutions that expand service offerings and increase value through future opportunity for network enhancement. For residential triple play and high-bandwidth business services over any FTTx architecture, the MXK solution sets a new performance benchmark.
